This project was implemented in Nakuru County and aimed to create a county-owned, county-led, county managed integrated platform for delivery of health services that emphasizes coordination and collaboration between health facilities and communities” with a focus of Key Populations living in Nakuru West, Nakuru Central and Gilgil sub-counties by; working alongside county governments, towards achieving “epidemic control” and integrating Family Planning (FP)/Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) care in Nakuru to ensure; increased availability of a comprehensive package of integrated HIV prevention, care & treatment for MSMs, HIV,RH/FP/MNCH services for FSWs with systems strengthening for KPs in Nakuru County.
Better Migration Management Project (BMM)
This project aimed to reduce vulnerability among women and youth within Mombasa and Nairobi Counties to unsafe/illegal migration by raising awareness on safe migration practises and alternative livelihood options available locally through; strengthening legal and policy frameworks towards facilitating returning of both legal and illegal immigrants back to their homes; Improving local political, environmental, social and economic opportunities in the formal and informal economic sectors to discourage unsafe migration and encourage returning of immigrants back to their homes; building capacities of local population and communities through education, knowledge and skills development through TVETs, information sharing, experience sharing and through expansion of local informal and formal economic and employment sector opportunities to build their resilience against unsafe migration practices.
Collective Action for Resilience and Youth Empowerment (CARE)
This project aims to realize various outcomes towards decreasing violent extremism and political and natural resource-based conflicts through; enhancing cooperation and trust between communities and government agencies based on respect for human rights and good governance; enhancing relations between groups and communities affected by conflict (inter-ethnic, intra ethnic; and increasing opportunities of at-risk individuals in the communities through improved messaging, economic opportunities, social linkages and sense of belonging especially for women, youth and vulnerable communities to reduce pull and push factors towards violence.
Communities Richer in Diversity - Youth For Peace (CRID)
This project aimed to among other things to; enhance intergenerational and community cohesion, peaceful co-existence and reduce mistrust amongst diverse religious and cultural social constructs in Kilifi County; and to promote information sharing amongst key community leaders (youth, women, community and religious elders) and security agencies to enhance security within Kilifi County through; Capacity-building youth and other interest-groups in interreligious tolerance and cultural diversity; promoting interreligious and intercultural tolerance and coexistence; and improving relations between state agencies, faith institutions and cultural structures for peaceful co-existence.
Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA)
This project focuses on Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB) and aims to; strengthen and support religious actors in challenging harmful intrareligious norms and practices; transforming radicalisation and extremism; addressing interreligious grievances and promoting interreligious interaction; while influencing FoRB policies at local, national and international levels.
Support towards Peaceful 2022 Kenya Elections
This project targeted interventions round the just concluded Kenya 2022 general elections with a focus on political conflicts mitigation, ensuring credible and peaceful elections, Inclusion of Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) within political parties’ processes: Safeguarding increased women participation and representation in the 2022 General Election, Media (Social) Monitoring for Incitement & Misinformation, reconciling divided communities, promoting integration and cohesion mitigating Conflicts through Early Warning and Response Systems, promoting Conflict Sensitive Reporting, and engaging in Election Day Violence Monitoring and reporting.
Kurunzi Ya Uchaguzi
This project focused on building upon electoral reforms previously supported by USAID/KEA to contribute to a credible, peaceful, and inclusive 2022 general election in Kenya and will aim to achieve various outcomes including; Election’s violence mitigation and response strengthening; Inclusive civil society, youth and women led voter/civic education; Enhancing participation of youth and women in related democratic processes pre and post general election.
Support reduction of radicalization and recruitment of youth into violent extremism groups
This project focused on interventions focused on at-risk individuals in violent extremism hotspots and/or hotbeds to ensure they are less at risk of radicalisation and recruitment by violent extremist groups; and Ensuring key non-state influencers and partners are better able to respond effectively to prevent or counter radicalisation and recruitment by violent extremist groups.
